Ur Choice
Ur Choice is a sex and relationships education (SRE) programme that has been developed locally by health professionals, in consultation with young people. It has replaced the APAUSE programme.
The programme comprises three lessons in year 9 and year 10 which are co-delivered by a teacher and a health professional. There is also a peer programme which involves year 12 pupils delivering lessons to pupils in year 9.
The Ur Choice pilot schools are Grange Technology College and Oakbank School.
Other Ur Choice schools in 2011-12 are Beckfoot School, Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College, Bradford Academy, Dixons Allerton Academy, Hanson School, Titus Salt School and Tong School.
Several other schools in the district are using Ur Choice resources and/or elements of the programme.
As well as providing co-ordination and resources, the Ur Choice team deliver training to health staff, school staff and year 12 pupils. This service is free to schools and is designed to meet present and future requirements for delivering SRE.
